So glad you have joined me for the third week of “It Doesn’t Take a Super Star!” Woohoo! Today, we are focused on THE COPYCAT! It’s hard to admit we may fall into this category. I know it was for me. I remember, about six years ago, I ramped up my second year of College Night, which was a faith-based monthly event I hosted for young adults around the Cincinnati area. I decided to be the main speaker for the first service, so I prepped and practiced to relay a great message. But what did a great message sound and look like? At the time, a great message looked and sounded a lot like my pastor. She stood before a crowd with certainty, power, and charisma. Every eye and ear were drawn to her. Because she produced beautiful results, I thought I had to look and sound like her in order to deliver a great message. For more, click here.

Challenge

Work on allowing your creative juices to flow. God was a creator and because we were made in His image, we, too, have the ability to create fresh and new ideas. Compile a list of creative ideas once you read the daily devotionals to get you started.  With these steps, you’ll never need to copycat again.

DAILY DEVOTIONS

Day 1

How to Be Creative?  Pray about it. Ask God to open your mind to all things creative. Ask Him to remove distractions and place you an imagination that runs wild. Allow thoughts to flow through your mind that are no longer fleeting, but new ideas inspired by the Creator himself. May these ideas be fresh, never been done before, exciting, earth-shattering, and over the top amazing!

Scripture “So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:27 (Amplified)

Day 2

How to Be Creative? Let your imagination run wild. Don’t put any limitations on where your dreams are headed. Go ahead! Imagine! If budget, location, physical limitations, resources, and/or surrounding situations weren’t a factor, where do you see your dreams/ ideas going? Imaginations are not just for kids. It’s our ability to see glimpses of the impossible and make them reality.

Scripture “…and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom and skill, with intelligence and understanding, and with knowledge in all [areas of] craftsmanship…” Exodus 35:31 (Amplified)

Day 3

How to Be Creative? Center yourself around creativity. Surround yourself with creative people. What inspires them? How do they keep their ideas fresh? Visit a theater production, concert, or art showcase. Sit with your teacher, watch YOUTUBE videos, or interview a photographer. Be around creativity to be inspired.

Scripture “For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].” Ephesians 2:10 (Amplified)

Day 4

How to Be Creative? Change your routine with a clear mind. Take a different route to work. Sit in a different seat. Walk a different way. Use a different form of communication. Order something different to eat. Doing “different” provokes new thoughts and perspectives. Embrace a new routine and BE PRESENT. Keep your mind on the here and now to grasp all the present situations is trying to reveal to you.

Scripture “Do you see a man skillful and experienced in his work? He will stand [in honor] before kings;
He will not stand before obscure men.” Proverbs 22:29 (Amplified)

Day 5

How to Be Creative? Take Risks. Sometimes you just have to do it. You’ll never know if an idea will flourish if you don’t try. Don’t be afraid. Let fear go. Try. Be courageous. Be daring. Go!

Scripture “Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men.” Colossians 3:23 (Amplified)
